Peak Putters - Frost Your Buns 2013

Postby iaccocca » Mon Nov 11, 2013 10:36 pm

We just completed our annual pre-FYBR run... Frost Your Buns Run. Traditionally it is me and the Jeeper Chicks, this year we convinced mom to play hookie from work and come along.

My findings:

There is no snow below 4,000 ft right now.

Crow Creek Campground is closed for the season (I know that has nothing to do with anything, but I was surprised.)

They changed the combination on the gate at American Ridge Lodge(new combo will be posted in the members' section.)

For the motorhomies that want to park at the bottom, there is a turnout right before Bumping Lake road just before where the road to the cabin is that would hold a few motor homes, but it is just off of the hi-way. If the pass is closed it would be quiet enough, if not, it would probably still be pretty quiet. Not real camping, but comfortable.

If you want the motorhouses in a camp site, best bet may be 3 miles before
Bumping Lake road; there is dispersed camping near Halfway Flat Campground.

But you would be away from all the cabin fun.

More findings...

The Patty Melt at Whistling Jack Lodge sucked. I can barely remember the last time I sent food back, but I did today. It was over seasoned to the point of being inedible. The cook was experimenting! The replacement was bland and the sauteed onions were raw.

But, the fries were good, the beer was great and I loved playing Uno with the wife and kiddos while we waited.

Might be fun to camp at Halfway Flat Campground for a future run...

Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

They did spot me my second beer. Mmm, Irish Death.
