Roy called the run to Narrow Neck on August 5, 2012. Attending drivers were Roy, Frank, George, and Steve. We all brought a co-pilot… all of which were a fun bunch of guys. It would have been a good group to wheel with on a two day Stage Run.
We left the Ahtanum Snow Park around 0900 hours and traveled up the North Fork Ahtanum Road towards Blue Lake. Just before Blue Lake, we popped up on Divide Ridge and followed the Divide Ride West trail to Narrow Neck. Once there, we scouted out the nasty trail over the Narrow Neck and decided to take the bypass and head towards Coyote Rocks. Just before the trail turned into a road, we doubled back up to Narrow Neck and poked down the Divide Ride trail until we found another trail that popped us out on to the North Fork Ahtanum Road a few miles northeast of Darlen Mt. Roy spotted some snow on the north side of Darlen Mt. and led us down a trail that took us to it. We snapped a few poser shots and then traveled down the Middle Fork Ahtanum back to the snow park.
The trail was a bit dusty, but we’ve all seen worse. The wild flowers were out in force, providing a sweet fragrance which masked the smell of fear of expelling from driver with a newly painted rig. The weather was nice and temperatures mild until the time to drive home in open rigs without A/C. It really got hot about the time we hit Tampico.
These are the pictures taken from my friend, Paul.
