Peak Putters - Birthday Run (March 2012)

Postby iaccocca » Sat Mar 03, 2012 10:42 pm

Today we had the Birthday run to Nasty Creek. I think it is safe to say that everyone had one of these moments (just add snow.) :-)

I’ll post a run report quickly so others can share their stories from their place in the pack, and more importantly, their pictures. Not much from me on that, camera died… really keep your electronics away from me right now.

Most of us met up at the Benton City Conoco to caravan up. We met up with Roy in the Tampico parking lot. We aired down, unloaded, etc. at about 9:40 AM.
Out of the Nasty Creek parking lot to snow (ice) pretty uneventful until the first consistently interesting hill climb. Roy and Rich took two different lines and made it look a little slick towards the top, so most us took the opportunity to drop more air. Everyone used their particular skill set / equipment to make the top. Then George (2-door JK on 35â€

Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

We had a really good time. I don't think anyone except the yellow CJ escaped recovery entirely. I did forget entirely to get gas. Hope I make it out of the driveway.

We had a really good time, looking forward to the next run! My girlfriend took these pictures from the day and one video of the worst hillclimb:

Because the Scout is sitting by the house nowhere close to being ready to join in on the fun :fi

Will get some pics up soon... they didn't come out as clear as usual this time, a little off focus on a lot of the pics, I just checked my camera and I accidentally had it on the "close-up" setting :banghead

It's a Canon Rebel XS... which is one of the cheaper SLR camera's you can buy but it still works great as compared to the regular point and shoot digital cameras. After going through several of ~$100 point and shoots I decided to get an SLR and am really glad I did.. it's amazing how much better the pics look and how fast it takes pictures. It has all kinds of fancy settings that I have no idea how to work, I usually just leave it on the "Automatic" setting and it works great.

Had a blast, another great day of wheeling. Lee, I think the birthday run needs to be another one of our annual runs :D

We made it! To the top with only a couple of winchings... Mind you the meltdown was intense and the snow was a completely different kind today. Tara & I made it to the top where you guys turned around (yes we got a few pics as proof) and back down. Just got home and will have to go through the phones to check pics...http://www.livin4today.com/?page_id=28&wppa-album=25&wppa-slide&wppa-occur=1

OK, I'm jellyous. You guys are definitely more fun then me right now. Been on Kauai since Thursday and all we've had is rain. Rivers are all flooded and chickens are running for their lives. Been trying to catch one for dinner with no success so far.

Winter weather forecast is for more rain and flooding. Last night we had thunder and lightening with rain....ALL NIGHT. Rained so much today we couldn't see to drive.

Enjoying a stiff drink right now....ok, well, a few then. Will try to put up a few pics soon.

So, since we've been here, 4 days, it's rained over 4 inches. The only day we've seen the sun was Friday.

Here's a couple pics. Hope this lets up b 4 we leave next Monday.

Wow! Rained out during a Hawaiian vacation. Sorry to hear about that. I have been reading about the flash floods over there.

I hope the Rain God's are sleeping when we are there.

Our time on Oahu was pretty good. Definitely not the best island. We're on Kauai for 10 days. So far we've only seen the sun one day. Where are you planning on going, Dave? I have a ton of good pictures and information on Pearl Harbor you can have if you would like to give your daughter a short lesson before getting there.

HiJackers!!!!

Danny's gonna be snow wheelin' O'mankumonIwanalaya in his rented JK any day now. . .

I would like to reiterate how much fun I had on this run.

One thing that is not lost on me is that people that don't know you automatically assume that you are a Noobie if you drive a stock looking rig. I may have to figure out how to make that work to my advantage. . .

I will say that Orville was a little out of his element in this particular snow. . .

I think you need a disguise to make it work toward your advantage...
