AWORC Ahtanum Snow Run - April 21, 2007
On Saturday Kristen and I headed up to Ahtanum to join Ceg and the AWORC on their snow run. It snowed for part of the day and was much colder than last weekend, and the snow was better for traction. I believe there was 10 rigs total. 5 Jeeps, 4 Yotas, and 1 Mazda.
We went up the Sedge Ridge Crest trail.
The first hill didn't have much snow left
hmmm.. this spot looks familiar
On top of the second hill
Ceg sizing down the two trees
Easy now, eeeeasy
Ooops!
Toyman2 bustin the trail
It was a fun run. Thanks Ceg for inviting us Peak Putter guys.

no they turned around anyway.
i broke trail for awhile but the hill was pretty steep and the snow went to sh@!.i coulda made it with alot of try but i had the wife and kid as well as one of CEGs kids also it was getting kinda late in the afternoon.
i never fell into the tree traps, that was mostly the 2nd group on my tracks.
i guess they made like 20-30ft more and had to break out some winches.
i had to do one winch to help me turn around,it was that of some dents or broken glass.
you know i cant bare the sight of my sissy rig broke.
it was a fun trip we got to do a little of everything allthough it felt like a short trip

I didn't realize how deep that hole was I was in until I see the pic now. I was following Cim on the last steep hill, Cim wasn't making much ground so he turned around and so I did right behind him, we started heading back down and I wasn't paying enough attention and slid off the tracks into that tree hole.
Hey Cim, did the Flatfender ever make it back to camp that night?

I had to go down to get meet my son at Red Saddle. By the time we would have made it back up, there wouldn't of have been much legal trail to run. The plan was we were going to run Whites Ridge when the group came down. It just took them a long time to get back down. My son's u-joint broke any how and he didn't get to wheel after all. Scuba's t-case was going out so he left. Fatboy and I were headed up to meet you guys since those rigs were down.toyman2 wrote:no they turned around anyway.
BNB (flat fender) stopped at camp to let us know he made it down but Fatboy and I had already headed up the trail and missed him.
My run report:
All Wheelers Off Road Club - Ahtanum Snow Run
April 21st, 2007
On friday April 20th, 2007 BSLM and I went up to the Ahtanum Sno-park with our families and set up camp. We were running a little late and Toyman2 show up not to long after we got there. Tiny and Roll-Over camp up for awhile. They went and got some fire wood before they left.
Saturday most of the other wheelers showed up around 10 am. We headed up A2400, A2420 and then ran the Sedge Ridge Crest Trail west.
Monster Mazda cut a tree out of the trail.
We went on past Red Saddle to the Rocky Climb. This was fun getting up with the open dif rig I was driving. Vetsch was having some trouble getting up were I had climbed. I guess he forgot to air down.
ToyRollin37s followed Tyrunner around the other way though the deeper snow.
Fatboy going for it.
Regrouping
The next hill climb I couldn't follow the Peak Putters tracks up. Scuba going for it as I followed Tyrunner around.
Tyrunner dug some big holes we fell into and I ended up having to winch to the top because I couldn't get started again. I made it so slick Vetsch had to winch up the top part.
Regrouping.
Wow there is a downed tree under that snow. A little pull back from Scuba.
Scuba going for it.
After that last little climb and the tires digging in, I powered up out of between two trees and slid into one. Commando14 needed a picture of some carnage anyways.
Test Dummy was calling me on the CB from Red Saddle so I turned around to meet up with him. There wasn't much left to run of the trail anyway with the logging closer. BSLM took over as Trail Boss and two rigs (Fatboy & Scuba) followed me down to Red Saddle. Test Dummy found he had a bad u-joint so we went on down to the Sno-park to swap it out. He came into some problems and couldn't change it so he headed to a friend's in Tampico. Scuba Steve's transfercase was making a lot of noise and was going out. He loaded his XJ on the trailer and headed home.
Fatboy and I didn't want to sit around so we headed on up to meet back up with the group. We met with a few of the guys and said the other were on there way down too. We waited at camp for everyone so we could regroup and run Whites Ridge. It was kind of late when the others got back to camp so we put Whites Ridge off until Sunday. Most of the guys went home so it was just the 3 families camping. It rained but it was fun BSing around the fire with tunes from Toyman2's rig and BSLM Ipod.
Sunday April 22nd, 2007 Toyman2 headed home. BSLM and I took our families up the Whites Ridge Crest Trail. Here is the first steep climb. BSLM had to take a few runs at it because of the snow.
BSLM made a nice road for me to drive up on.
It was my turn to plow the way so I took the lead.
The trail started going down hill and the snow was a little soft.
We turned around and went down to Tree Phones camp ground. I drove around the north camp loop and stopped at the middle camp site. BSLM followed and said it was easy.
We stopped to use the outhouse. You can see the trail fixed window.
We followed BSLM around the south camp loop. I got to use the new winch to pull BSLM back out of the holes he was stuck in. He powered though the holes and was on his way.
I pulled up beside BSLM to see if he was ready to go back down. He said he was and to take the lead. His rig was stuck again at Tree Phones.
BSLM said he wouldn't have been stuck if he was in his XJ. We both plan to go up soon after both our XJs are put back together for another snow run.
This was a very fun weekend snow run / camp out. Thanks to all that came out.
