1st annual semi-weekly 3(4) ball tournament 1/15/2012
1st annual semi-weekly 3(4) ball tournament 1/15/2012
Danny and I had played a game called 3 ball at the Team Trophy Challenge a few years ago. It was FUN so I decided to see if some of the gang would like to hang out and play out at Juniper Dunes. Here's how 3 ball works:
You place 3 (we used 4) posts similar to baseball tees out in your terrain. . .we chose to perch them precariously on sandy knolls. Then, your passenger has to place a ball on each of the tees without leaving his/her seat. . .after all the balls are placed, the driver has to repeat the course and retrieve all the balls. The clock stops when the last ball is retrieved.
We chose to use 4 Tees in roughly the shape of a baseball diamond. Screamin' Toylet built bases 1-3 and I used a baseball tee for home plate. There would be two winners. Fastest time and time closest to a predetermined time. . .everyone got three timed runs after a practice run.
So we had:
Royboy's Rubicon with Commando14 as codog.
TJ Dave
Danny
Dale
Don and his lovely co-driver
Me and Will rockin' Orville
Screamin' Steve and Dion
Lee and. . .a quiet young man (Nephew?)
and
The Benton County Sheriff's Deputy in a Humvee. . .more on that later.
The early group (Dan, Jose (Jose?), Steve and Me/Will) met up for some burrito action at Roberto's at around 10. We then split up. . .Dan went to the dunes to start scouting, Steve went to grab Dion, while Will and I went and hunted for a dune flag. . .finally found at the Moto-Dealer in Kennewick. The sales dude yanked one off of a quad and sold it to me for $8.
Then we regrouped, set up the course and proceeded to have a BLAST!!
Results:
Fastest Time
Jim/Will/Orville: 1:54.2
Danny and Don: 2:05.9
Steve and Dion: 2:10.6 (Roy did have a 1:58 in the practice round)
Closest to the preset time of 3:00.0:
BC Deputy: 3:05.0 (no joke. He nailed it with Dion in co-dog)
but, he wasn't "official" and just cruised around for the exposure
so
Dale with Dan in the codriver seat: 2:52.5
Lee/codog: 2:51.9
Roy and Dave: 2:50.9
Dale was taking video while David got some pictures. . .I was busy timing/scoring so I didn't get any of my own. I hope they post up. This was as fun to watch as it was to participate in. Also, I'm happy to report, that the club is now $40 less poor. Yeah!!!
So, post up your photos and videos!!!!

Jimmey, that was a kick in the arse! One of the best parts was the sheiff's deputy showing us the proper way to negotiate a closed course with four wheel drive in low traction conditions.
Good times! Maybe we need a three ball run of the month.

Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Dion and I had a good time as well even though we were a bit under dressed... not crazy under dressed like Dale. Below are a few pictures that I took. Send me a PM if your interested in obtaining full size versions of these pictures.
I don't Text (at least not very well), I eat Blackberrys, and I only Twitter after sex...

The commentary on Lee's run is priceless. . .

Thought for next time... for this and Juniper runs in general wouldn't it be nice to meet up at Hubby's afterwards; especially when we have more family with us?
Would be great place for awards ceremonies.

I'm picturing Peak Putter 3 ball league shirts. A logo something like, "... because bowling only requires one, NASCAR only requires 2, Three Ball Requires 4!"

Embedded youtube videos in the second post.
Here's a link to my channel if you can't see them on here for some reason.

It's real. It's not the hi-lift jack, because I think you can see it tucked away nicely on his rear bumper.
Good air Lee! That's a great picture.
I was wanting to go play on some hills after 3-ball, but I ran out of time and had to go.

It has been years since I have watch this game. Jeepscum brought this up to our club after seeing your fun. He has been wanting to do a 3 ball for some time now but I guess he never thought about the sand. He was thinking to two classes. One with rigs and the other ATVs. Of course the Peak Putters are welcome to come play too.Screaming Toylet wrote:That would make the cleanup much more fun to attend. There are a few tricks for setting up the coarse to keep it fair and safe. Type of obstacles at the tees and the distance between tees need attention.
