Seahawks losing caused impromptu Hover run

Postby Livin4Today » Mon Jan 14, 2013 9:06 pm

So after the horrible loss by the Seahawks, Mike (Yrjan) and I decided that although the previous day's snow run was EPIC we needed a little rock time. So we loaded our ladies up and headed out to Hover. Once there we aired down and reprogrammed our computers and headed straight back to the legendary "Butt Crack."

I just had to know if my front locker would get me up it or not. So I started up and when I reached the 80% spot I gave her a little more gas a walked right up and over. I was actually disappointed at how easy it was, so easy in fact, Mike decided to give it a shot. He also walked right up and over.

So I guess the lockers we have worked, however we'll return in the spring as I believe the frozen ground helped a lot too. After killing the crack we cruised up and over the hills stopping to play on a favorite rock out cropping that I'd posed on before. It's apparent I need more clearance to get up and over those rocks...

From here Ms. Mandi drove us out the west entrance and we headed for our place to check the video we'd taken that we'll share soon.

Building a capable off roader is easy, building a street legal one that you can wheel and then drive daily is the challenge...

We each have an additional brain tweaker, mine is a Bully Dog & Mikes is a Superchips. So we reprogrammed for crawl mode...

I'm working on the pics and vids, hopefully tonight or maybe Thursday...

So what exactly does that change? Do you actually notice a difference?

Whiskey puts me in Crawl mode. Seriously, I don't care if it does NOTHING. I want a button that says "Crawl Mode" and I want it NOW.

It changes the throttle response. And yea, it's noticeable. It may be something I should plan on doing if we ever go back up FS1303. Butt crack was cool! Thanks for showing me!

And The Videographic Proof!!!

Yeah, mine's longer, but I wanted to make sure there were no questions that I made it... The funny thing though, I posted this on Facebook and people were clearly deceived by the camera, saying stuff like what's the big deal it looks like you just going up an easy trail... I admit it wasn't as glorifying to top out as the frozen ground was a big factor...

My run(s) up Butt Crack (I think I did 3 up and 1 down)

Mike's (Yrjan) run up Butt Crack. I made it look so easy he had to try it!

Mandi, Syler & I crawling across an upper ridge...

Mandi, Syler & I playing on the rocks. I tried to get Mike (Yrjan) to try but he declined...
