I called a last minute (Sat. night) run to run up Webber Canyon Sunday Feb 10. The idea had been that a couple friends, Myself and Mike (Yrjan) would get together and run the canyons 1 & 2, 2 up, 1 down and what ever daylight we had left we might spend over at A & B, so I through it out to the club to see if there might be any additional takers...

Ambitious for sure, first glitch my buddies caved up & out, next only Mike and I showed our shiny mugs, along with our co-pilots and Mike brought his co-dogs.

So we met up at The BC Conoco at 12:30 pm and were rolling by 1:00 pm, we had a litte trouble finding #2 as I had not led before, but were airing down, disconnecting swaybars, etc by 1:30 and ready to roll. Everything was working well right up through the halfway point, where unknowingly, Mike lost a bead, secondary to slicing a valve stem (rubber...) which stopped us dead for about 90 mins or so. We were finally able to get my spare on his rig after chiseling the rocks out from under the axle, and get out of number 2 at 5:00 pm. Hence we decided to call it a day.... Enjoy the video...

It's funny, Iulia and I were joking on the way home... "No wonder no one else showed up, that place was knarley as hell!" We still had a blast. New wheel ordered today, should have it Wednesday. Thanks for loaning me your spare. Tax money can't come soon enuf. Need my new tire carrier and a full size spare to boot! Good job on the video too!

Lance, looks like a good time, even with all the hard work. What were you guys aired down to. Looks like you could have gone down a little more.

Nah, fan dangled it pretty good though. Still good for a spare, when I finally get around to buying another 35 and my over size tire carrier.

if you guys would have gone in the morning i would have come out with ya, never knew there was another canyon out that way taht people went down...lance are you still open f/r or did you get lockers i remember you talking about getting some

A couple of things to add/take away from the experience.

1. A bottle jack and a block of wood under the axle work much better and are a lot safer than a hilift on a Jeep with a flexy suspension.

2. In the absence of said bottle jack, you can use a beefy ratchet strap to limit your flex while using a hilift jack.

Looks like you guys had a good time. We were kind of right down the street wrenching on El Chivo. . .having our own fun!

So what your saying is to pull the axle up with a strap or support it when lifting the body so said axle doesn't sag so close to the ground I can't get the spare on? That makes so much sense! Damn. Learn something all the time! Next time won't be nearly as fun and time consuming.

I have to do that with mine. I can top out a 60" high lift and barely lift the tire. A ratchet strap is a must for any trail tool kit.
