Peak Putters - Kaner Flat Group Camp @the Cheeze (10-2-2014)

Postby TJDave » Sun Oct 05, 2014 8:20 pm

It was a great weekend. The weather was perfect.
Thank you to all that came.

We arrived at Kaner Group Site around 10:30pm and the lights were still on.
The earlier arrivals were still up enjoying the campfire.
There was a lot more room than I had thought there would be. One wide spot on the end of the group site was completely unoccupied all weekend.

Friday morning a couple of us still had to unload our Jeeps from their trailers.
This likes a good place to put it.

After breakfast, we all took a quick trip up and down Lower Kaner.

Saturday. We ran upper Kaner up through Aardvark Hill then to the Funny Rocks. I am not sure how we got there, but it was tons of fun.

Sunday morning was the start of another beautiful day. I took a couple more pics of this awesome group site. I slowly packed up for the trip home. A few of the group went for another run.

Thanks again to all that showed up, and made this such a great trip.

I am still on the hill.....

The place that I am camped is just.....well.....unspoiled. The dog and I have our own mountain.

and this reminds me;

we should not forget to thank TJDave for reserving our campsite at mostly his own expense Friday thru Sunday.

Iaccocca for reserving it for Thursday at his own expense.

and one last thank you to the trail boss for understanding everyone's skill level and wheeling styles, thanks TJDave!

Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Thanks Dave for this find. I think it should be a named regular run. I guess the onus is on you to name it.

Pics to follow, but I'm busy eating the food that came home with me.

Saturday night, I think we had to blow off a little steam. Best Peak Putter party in memory... sorry to the neighboring campers.

Thank you TJ Dave and Lee.....what a terrific spot....
Absolutely no problem getting everyone in....and wonderful weather to start off the month of October!

Started off a bit rough....some shifting and stalling issues I dealt with all day....but luckily my Jeep was solid enough to make the run....and we did it!!! Syler (Jeep Dog) and I made it up almost everything....there was that one hill......but thanks to everyone who came to my rescue, particularly Jimmy who sat down on the hill outside my driver window and cheerfully asked me, "so how's it going?" as if the fact that I felt like I might slide right off the hill should be of no concern!

TJ Dave, GREAT JOB leading us up to Funny Rocks....and thanks for keeping the pace at something I could feel comfortable with....I had a great time!

As for the party and the Fireball....well.....lets just say, I don't remember a few things.... and I won't do that again....I was really bummed I was in no condition to wheel on Sunday....

Overall it was an awesome weekend...we have a great club and I absolutely enjoy every camping and wheeling trip with all of you!

Thanks Dave!

The spot was great! So much room, and bathrooms for those of us who didnt have our own.

The family had a good time. It was a little chilly at night, but we managed. We havent been camping much, so got a few bugs to work out.

I needed this. Great way to motivate movement on "the project". And now that my Cherokee has less seats, my wife is mentioning we need one that will seat the whole family.
