NYDR 2015

Postby scumby » Thu Jan 01, 2015 6:10 pm

AND.....so it happened. Personally I would say it went off without a hitch. We all made it back without any *real* carnage. As proposed we met at El Sazon in Kennewick, and they were quite receptive. For those that were hungry (and those that watched the others eat) the food was delicious. attendees that departed promptly at 1013 from El Sazon were:

Scumby, white 98 TJ (Al & Stace)
*Wrongway, white JK (Bill)
Iaccocca, LJ (Lee and Jose as passenger)
Livin4Today, black JK (Lance & Mandi)
Yrjan, maroon JK (Michael)
Irish, reddish JK (Mike, Tina, Emily, and Abi (make believe family))
Oddball, maroon 99 TJ? (Curtis)
JKRay, black JK (Ray & Tim as passenger)
Byansfab, white 08 JK )Bryan, Christe & chitlins)
TJDave, black 04 TJ (Dave)
Turnerbjt, red JK (Bret & Shiela)
Bobracing, 2 tone Blazer (James)

Curtis towing his TJ led us to the trailhead with an arrival time of approximately 1045. At 1056 I opened the drivers meeting with introductions of board names, real names and vehicles driven. We determined we would travel as 1 slow moving group versus breaking into multiple groups. Since I've not been there before I solicited for a Trailboss. Bryan volunteered to lead and Michael volunteered to be Tailgunner. We also decided to monitor CB channel 12. 1103 the run began.

Approximately 30 minutes into the run as we were lining up for our first group photo we were joined by:
Pascoscout, Grey TLC (Matt &son)
*DougCampbell, blue JK (Doug, Son & daughter)

At approximately 2 pm we lost Pascoscout, TJdave and Iaccocca to prior engagements.

At about 2:50 we were thirsty and hungry so most of us headed to Shooters in Finley.

May not be the best run report but I think you'll be able to Follow along. Fun was had by all. Oddball said this used to be a standard run. I was thinking it should be reinstated as such.

*Minor trail damage but certainly not carnage.

Not many pics were taken by us but it was suggested that I post a run report rapidly. So here are some pics to start the flow.

I for one was impressed, Good looking family! But... I have to wonder first how long he scouted them out and what it cost him for the three fine actresses he got...

Lovin' the Irish clan! Hope we can get 'em back some more!

Building a capable off roader is easy, building a street legal one that you can wheel and then drive daily is the challenge...

Good times. What a great way to spend the first day of the year.
Big turnout. Two Jeeps were wheeling before they even had license plates.
Temporary tags, I thought that was great.
I have some phone pics.
Scumby, my TJ is an 04! :D

Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Thank you Ms Mandi for putting so many beautiful pictures up (she was worried about loading too many) but I think they are great pictures and everyone wants a good picture of their rigs. However, I'll be working on a slideshow with the pics too...

So I didn't put much more than 6 hours into this (wanted to get it up quickly), but here is the raw video that Mandi captured on film. Enjoy!

You have to change the address to

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=... instead of http://youtu.be/...

So you end up with

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFkQcWEw3VA

By the by...
If an experienced wheeler doesn't have his or her junk together for a run, it is a great idea to jump in with a relatively uninitiated wheeler. You will have fun and you will give confidence to a new friend who will have fun and will be more likely to come back and play.
Also, it is great when you call co-dawg in another Putter's rig; I've found you learn a lot when you wheel with someone with other equipment than your own.
a. That is not a double entendre.
b. No Jose I am not putting a 231 in the Rubi.

There was even a casual motion at dinner, post run, that this be the resposibility of the V.P. :D

Thanks for the documentation!
