Darland Mt Run, April 16-17, 2016

Postby commando14 » Tue Apr 19, 2016 8:34 pm

We had our annual Darland Mountain run this past weekend, and it was great times as usual! We camped at the snow park and rolled out at 9am each morning. The weather was absolutely perfect both days, sunny and super clear skies. Saturday we ran the loop around Darland without much issue, the snow was hard and packed and made for easy going. We went up the mid Fork and then back down the North Fork, half of the group headed back to camp and the others made a little run to Blue Lake which was a bit challenging in a few spots, but we made it. On Sunday we headed back up the mid Fork to the top and then came down Sedge ridge. We got lost several times and ended up in a few spots where we had to slide down some steep hills, but we finally made it out. It wouldn't be a Sunday run without a little adventure

In attendance:

Danny
Steve

Great pics, and it was a fun run.

What I really would like to know is when the Sunday crowd got back to camp......
.....and what happened to the couple in the Dodge with the blown out tire that Jimmy and I tried to help ended up doing?

Danny, for the third year in a row, Sunday's run went a bit longer than planned and generally more challenging than one might expect for a Sunday run. The group returned to camp via the middle fork road around 330pm. Folks loaded up their rigs and rolled out of camp pretty quick. The couple with the Dodge borrowed my spare tire and jack. Since they were on motorcycles, I loaded up the tire and jack onto the Toyota, and ran back up to some side road off of the middle fork to their Dodge. I re-rolled into camp around 445pm to find Curtis and a beer waiting for me :D

The dude, Derek works near my office. So I picked the tire and jack up a few days later. He was very nice kid... Offered to swing by and put the spare back on the truck. The whole thing worked out ok... Sometimes I need all of the good karma I can get.
