Beautiful!
Planned to meet up in Smith Canyon at 9am and was running on time till I realized I forgot to pack a sand flag. 20 minutes later I was sitting at the same light on 395 again. Unloaded and packed fornthe day I took a pic of the days participants.
Just me and Bingo, off to explore to outer perimeter fence line!
The desert flowers were definitely in bloom
We explored the northwest fence line, definitely the lower traffic side of the dunes. Only saw 2 bikes and one sxs roll through. After finding a nice open dune we hopped out and played fetch for a bit.
It didn't take Bingo long to figure out playing ball in sand tastes HORRIBLE and he wasn't digging his paws sinking in sand.
With him content with snoozing I figured it was a good time to pull out a radio and wire and see if I could make an activation. Juniper was recently added to the P.O.T.A. list of parks. California, Canada, Texas, Mexico, ect...
With the radio wrapped up and the pup tucked back in the Jeep it was time to head back to the trailer. I never officially "aired down" and definitely needed 4wd and the rear locker on more than one hill. I got some odd looks from one group at the main parking lot headed out to the dunes AND back towards Smith. Maybe its my red doors on a white Jeep
It was a nice day, and amazing weather. Much quieter than most dune runs and I definitely missed a nice snow run but can't have it all.
