Patching Holes in Sidewalls

During the Liberty Run I poked a hole in the sidewall of my newish MTRs. I am wondering if the hole can be safely patched. Here are a few pictures of the hole - I stuck a nickle in it to plug it . It looks like the kid at Big O Tires tore up the bead a bit when he dismounted the tire Anyone think that this will be a problem?

Take it out to goodyear in Pasco out by BIGGG truck. They should vulcanize it and patch it if you tell them it's your spare or an offroad only tire.

The GoodYear dealer in Pasco sent my tire to Spokane for repairs. It is still a "maybe" deal.

I thought the MTR sidewalls were considered pretty stout.

Compared to the tires on my honda sure, they are pretty robust. Compared to a more offroad type tire not so much. They survive nicely in some environments such as desert etc put put them on a shale hill and you'll shred them.

I thinks I'am happy It cost me $48 but I got my tire back repaired. The Goodyear outfit in Pasco sent it to Spokane and they fixed the sidewall cut and goofed up inner bead. It appears that they did some type of rubber graft to the outside of the tire to weld the cut. In addition they did some stuff to patch the inside. Strange, but those guys seem to morn the passing of the old style MTR. Regardless, I have very good full size spare and that is good.
