Let's leave the hack n' fabrimukatin alone.

And start a new thread to avoid "cluttering" of what I predict to be an epic build thread.

JK Lance wrote:Well then, maybe a filter for Christmas is in order. Encyclopedias are nice, and look good on a shelf, but they don't bite...

We can always agree to disagree, but to be disagreeable just cause, is flat out rude.

What riles folks like myself other Vets is we served this country so that people continue enjoy such rights and freedoms... But being talked down to ain't cool, we all learn at our own speed. I just don't see any necessity to be rude when sharing. So I'll fall back on something my Mom used to exclaim;

"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!"

There, Thanks Mom...

The fact that you are/were in the military makes zero difference to me so you can keep that card in your pocket. We all choose our jobs yours just happened to be for uncle sam congrats on your choice.

I am not rude as you say just for the sake of being rude. If I was have no fear you'd know it. I am filtered in what I say here believe it or don't since this is a family oriented site after all.

When I see someone apparently doing their damndest to ruin a viable vehicle by diving into a large and complicated project just for the sake of doing it with little to no idea of how to do it other than some writeups found online yes I'll speak up. Could this project be done by an experienced fabricator with chassis design knowledge and a decent budget? Sure. Will that happen here? I'm fairly certain it will not and the rig will end up scrapped eventually.

As for who I am that's an easy and hard answer all in one. I'm a truck driver with a long history turning wrenches on pretty much anything that moves. I give that knowledge gained the hard way away to anyone that requests it and make a habit of never asking for anything in return other than to learn from what I say and do. If I tell you its a bad idea to put a 400 horsepower small block chevy engine in a yota with all stock running gear and 39" tsl's you should just shut up and listen because its knowledge I've earned the hard way. My old motto stands true, "I screw it up so you don't have too". I've broken more rigs and screwed up more decent parts than anyone should be allowed to so all my advice is hard learned. Rarely is it sage advice I read on the interwebs.

I don't attend club meetings for a few reasons. I have never been nor will I ever be in any club. I find the organization of the meetings to be stuffy and silly. And lastly because OG doesn't like me... Ok, that's a lie, I don't care if he likes me or not. The reality is I have given up on the future of wheeling. I parted out my last extreme rig and I'm gathering parts for a far more mild trail poaching machine so its best that I'm not known to associate with a quality club such as this.

There ya have it, the extremely short version of me. That's enough narcissism for the year from me. Lance if you have any more questions feel free to ask. But be careful in your choices as I'll answer plainly. 8)

I'm not telling if I like you or not.

Bottom line to this:

Lance's mom is right by saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

However, remember to only take criticism to heart if you value the critical opinion of those that give it to you. . .sticks and stones.

and

Apply your own filter and you can actually get some knowledge. If not, simply don't read the posts. I think that there is an ignore button or something. It is just the internet.

Lastly,

Ryan has issues from eating paint chips as a child. . .White Trashed up Tourette's Syndrome. It is just hurtful to make fun of the challenged.

This is the important part. I quit losing sleep over others opinion of me almost two decades ago and believe it or don't I'm still alive because of it.

You are absolutely right that everything needs to be read through ones own filter. Pay attention to nuances rather than disregarding a poster entirely and you may catch onto what they are about. Sarcasm can be hard to convey over the intardnet.

For some reason, I thought you were a retired cop...
Working on your rig is like a really great date: you start out expecting it to be something simple and straightforward; four hours later you're laying under her, panting and cursing, and things are a lot more complicated than you ever wanted.

You took a solemn oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States. . .etc. . .

So, you were, in fact, fighting for Trashy's right to be an a-hole.

That don't make it right though. . .Just sayin' that the veteran card isn't valid in the argument.

Sorry for the delay in response, I somehow missed all the poo flying by the window (didn't see the post)...

I did serve and defend those rights OG, doesn't mean I have to like it. Hey I'm type A all the way, but have some qualities left to my character, like standing up for others.

Whether, you believe it or not Trashy, I don't dislike you, I just think your "plain" answers are at times abrasive. Consider this, while you may be all knowing in some regards, one thing you can't know is whether your "advice" is relevant in every situation. For instance in the afore mentioned one, Ace has a yearning to do something challenging to his own skillset. It may be beyond his reach, but that is for him alone to decide, not any of us. I too give advice, sometimes it's worthy of reception and other times it falls on deaf ears.

So my advice is simple write what you will, re-read it and if you see it offensive. tweak it, if you don't let it fly!

Me abrasive? Get the heck out of here with that nonsense. It's not up to me to judge what I say as offensive that is up to the reader. Someone that knows me can read my posts and laugh or nod their head while someone that doesn't know me may get highly offended. I guess that's where one needs to apply their own filter eh?

One thing you need to remember when you see me give tech advice or general build advice is that I've gone over any variables in the end result if my advice were to be heeded. It is a rarity for me to just whip up a reply without mulling it over many times unless its a solid been there done that type of thing.
