Yep, I went and did it. I bought another jeep, I just can't bring myself to have less than a v8 rig in the driveway, so toby was sellin and I well was buying. This is a total project jeep, toby said a radiator with some plumbing and a little cleaning up to be a driver. Well yesterday afternoon toby delivered my project to the door. Before delivery, I was out sourcing parts so I could get busy making this thing road ready. I got the new radiator in which is for a YJ and I had to frankinfix the different sized hoses to make liquid cool in the 5.2L grand motor.
So today, I convinced Jose to come out and play(didn't take much begging) so he showed up around 10 and we did alittle screen surfin to see what was available for the frankinfix of hoses. After comming up with a plan, the mex and I headed to the shop to check out my new found project, even though it wasn't plumbed up yet, I just had to lite the fire in it so he could hear it roar. Wow, he says, that sounds good. So I put the fire out, and we headed out to source some hoses.
Back at the Rucker Ranch, we got everything ran and connected, thanks to chrispy for a few pipe connections that were made. So fluid was flowing as jose was filing up the radiator and motor with coolant. We lit the fire again to check for leaks... all was good. You prolly know what was next... Thats right, TEST DRIVE. Since the linkage and shifter wasn't hooked up to the tranfercase, we quickly determined that it was in 4lo. Jose jumped underneath and wrestled the tc selector to give us a HI drive. Lets go jose, jose says "don't kill me" lol The thing runs out great, there are some quirks that need to be addressed, but it is a project. Jose and I didn't know how much fuel was in the tank, but we knew it was waaay baad. So we head to the BC Conoco, grabbed so fuel additive and started to fill the tank, Jose mentioned that he'd hoped it takes 15 plus gallons so we could run the nasty fuel out of the tank. Well it took 18 plus to fill it, uh oh what that? Fuel is leaking out the passanger side, oh must be a broken fuel vent line is what we were thinkin, wrong there was a pin hole leak near the top of the tank, dang it. I'm telling myself "It's a project" I'll be ok. There are some driveline issues, amongst others but we had a successful test drive that didn't leave us stranded. The wife and kids can't believe I bought it, because if youv'e known me, I try to keep my rigs pretty nice, this one I will just have to work at it a little harder to get it where I want it. Thanks again for the help and parts jose and chris. And thanks to toby for the patience while I made the desision to get the jeep. Now back to the garage..
