Diesel guys

Postby Lurch » Mon Dec 22, 2008 3:24 pm

For you guys running diesel trucks I would highly recomend adding some anti jelling aditive. We have seen 3 trucks in the last couple of days that have jelled up. This is the first time I've seen it be a problem in this area.

Don't normally get this freaking cold here, either :!: The oil burners at work are not happy  Tim, does covering the grill actually help? Seems the van I usually drive isn't coming up to op. temp, or at least it doesn't feel like it to me...

Covering the grill can help some, but more then likely your t-stat is stuck open.

Seems to warm up some when moving, then cools off while sitting. Hell, it's a '92 with 258K on it. Bound to be getting a mite eccentric in it's old age...

What do you recomend using?

I've been using Diesel Kleen, it in the white bottle. It's an antigel.

Didn't know about the T-Stat. Mine never seems to get to operating temp. How do I get to it to look?

easiest way is to measure the temp on the upper radiator hose, should read some where around 190deg., the inferred dohickys works the best.
