So. . .after the KOH trip, I have a couple of observations.
1. I wonder why I didn't do this sooner.
2. Gotta get the heater fixed. It is probably something stupid since it worked at home.
3. I don't snore in the trailer. No kidding. Dan told me.
4. The shower is really too small for anything other than a small child so I'm going to run the hose outside.
and. . the best part:
Overall MPG over 2200 miles: 14.85.
That thar is an arrrr veee!!!!!
I may have stopped at Cabela's in Boise for some new storage bins too. . .

Heater works. . .
PO hooked up the battery backwards. Everything else on this little trailer works just fine with positive ground, but the heater motor was blowing backwards which prevented the sail switch from allowing the burner to fire. . .
When we bought it, we tested the heater. It worked just fine, BUT it was plugged in to 110 and using the converter. . .so, as soon as we went to battery power. . no bueno.
Everything is 5x5 now. Camp Schamp Prep = Done for the living quarters. Orville just needs a bath. . .

You are going to have a real hard time finding air bags that will even have enough travel to work well off road (yours, about 10" travel out back), and still work well supporting the camper. If there was a way to quick-release the bags and remove them for off road, it may work. I think a load equalizing hitch is a much better idea.
I think this one is ideal. Easy to couple, and has built in sway control:

From me: $345 (part number 14-5605) with everything except ball, not installed. Installation is usually about an hour shop time, but they come with a good set of directions if you want to do it yourself. Having an impact gun that will do ~500ft lbs of torque is ideal.
Or, you can keep an eye out on CL. Most of those hitches are the chain type and do not have any sway control.

You know what might be cool... Some of the load-leveling shocks offered in GM SUV's... I have no clue how they stack up in terms of extended/compressed lengths, but I do know they are VERY fine shock and the pnuematic load leveling feature would fit the bill nicely... And I'm sure the junkyards are littered with them... *shrugs*

I dont see why you cant use that hitch with your jack setup. You may have to remove the arms before dropping the jack, but that wouldnt be too much trouble with a light trailer like that.
Except what Lee posted, none of the other manufacturers seem to have anything that is designed specifically for that setup. I can get that hitch, and I will price match without adding on shipping cost if I can get away with it.
With as thin as the top shock mounts are on the Cherokee, I am not sure the air shock idea is a very good one. It would be the least expensive option, though!

Your external hook up for propane that you use for your gas grill, is that fitting threaded or a quick disconnect, kinda like air uses? I bought the Coleman hose, but that is compatible with a bottle; my camper uses a quick disconnect.
