heres the story peaceful day at hover my friend got a new truck i was turning around in the pit and i was just hitting the bank and a slammed into a hole. my front bumper was about two inches off the ground front diff half under mud.

figured i could back outta it but i gave it gas in four low and grind gears or stuff was just spinning and make terrible noises

we got it out and it will only go into 2nd. automatic tranny so i got towed home we messed with it some reason its locked up somewhere i guess cause we can push it forward in nuetral but not in backwards.

what should i do guys? :?:

Have you checked your hubs? On rangers they are plastic and are usually the first thing to fail.

would it be a good idea to take off the transfer case and check that?

If you are pretty sure it is not in the axles, yeah, I would start with the transfer case. See if you can do some diagnosis before you pull it out. Try to move the truck in low range, high range, 2wd, hubs locked, hubs un-locked and see if it does anything different that might point to the problem being in the transfer case.
