Where to get some 35" MTR's....

Postby Lud » Tue Aug 25, 2009 4:51 pm

I'm getting close to moving up another tire size on the Jeep. Where's a good place to get some Goodyear MTR's?

Try Big-O. They're a corporate store now, but could work. Don't know if Wingfoot does much or not other that trucks...

So far I've seen $840 shipped to me for 4 35x12.50x15 the new style Goodyear MTR's. Doesn't seem too bad except that I have to get them mounted and balanced on my own. Gonna check locally though.

Edit: I'm not registered on that forum withe the guy who's selling tires so I can't see the post.

Stop by wallymart on the way home and pickup some airsoft pellets. Then when home pull the spoons out, add 8 ounces of airsoft pellets and a thick layer of paint on the rim beads.

The airsoft pellets will balance the tires (BBs will rust) and the paint is a poor mans beadlock.

Well I've called around on the Goodyear MTR's w/Kevlar in the 35x12.50x15 size for 4 tires:

Steve's Tire Factory wants 1375 installed for 4 tires. wow

Discount Tire wants 1058 installed

Discount tire direct (online) wants $840 shipped to my house but I have to get them mounted and balanced myself.

Tri Cities Battery can't get them

Big-O can't get them either

I sent an message to Aventeone at Auburn Car Repair about some 35's- Those 37's were on clearance and are still available from what I read as of Aug 15th.

Give COSTCO a call. They have a great return/replacement policy. Depending on wheel size they may not mount and balance for legal reasons.

I finally put a hole in the sidewall of my MTR's the other week. Thats after about three years of serious abuse at low pressures. Glad I picked up a spare this spring.

Holy crap!!! That is some serious abuse to put a hole in a MT/R.
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

I am surprised how many dudes complain about MTR weak sidewalls. They must really be hard on tires. I guess a guy needs to figures out if he is a rock garden or trail guy.

The new style MTR's are reinforced with Kevlar on the sidewalls. Its supposed to be stronger than steel.

I really like the look of the new mtr's, To bad they don't make a 37 in a 15 inch wheel anymore.

Got an email back from Discount Tire in Pasco.

$223 a tire mounted and lifetime balance.

I think thats pretty good. They probably won't have them in but if they do I'll be wheeling on 35's this weekend.

Edit: Just bought them. I'll pick them up next week.
