Well. . .I think I have my bugs about worked out. It turns out that my fuel problem started out being a vapor lock thing. Since the motor started running hot after I replaced the entire ignition system, the effects of running the rubber crossover fuel line near the engine are not good. The fuel filter gets almost too hot to touch. I have to run a crossover line because the hardline is on the passenger side and the fuel pump is on the driver's side.
There are two solutions:
1. Easy: Run the crossover line along the brakeline that also crosses over underneath the radiator and call it a day. This will eliminate the "hump" that the pump has to suck over and it will keep the line 20x cooler.
2. Harder: Ditch the mechanical pump altogether and run a facet pump to push fuel to the HP pump and move everything to the passenger side. I'll only do that if #1 doesn't get me cool enough not to boil the fuel.
The other problem is the heat. . .since I redid the ignition/wires/plugs, etc. . .I'm burning gas a lot more efficiently and, therefore, running pretty hot if I am climbing or on the throttle. So, I will be retarding the timing a little bit and flushing the radiator. If that doesn't help, I need to find a fan shroud, cut some holes in the hood and maybe get a bigger radiator. It has been my experience that bigger radiators are just covering up some other problem. In this case 14* BTC might be a little too much advance and I am pretty sure that my radiator has a bunch of gunk in it.
Any advice on how to flush it????
The really good news is that when I am moving fast, the motor absolutely sings. . .I was cruising at 4500RPM for a few hundred yards and it still felt like it had A LOT more. In fact, it started heating up the tranny. . .LOL. . .I'm guessing that I set a new record for getting down the North Fork. . .

Flushing Take it to Steve's bud down town, get it done right, put a shroud on it, and that should do it...
