does anyone know what kind of adapters im gonna need to drop this chevy 350 into my jeep? its got a trans attatched but idk if it will bolt up to my transfer case. i know if i want to use my current trans i will need an adapter and they run a few hundred bucks. i will need a conversion radiator. but i would like to spend as little as possible due to my work situation. i had the 4.2l i6 i believe a t150 and a dana 300 tcase.

chances are its a t-5 trans which u need a advanced adapters bell housing. about 200$ for kit. we just did a sm465 4speed to a dana 300 the adapter cost 340shipped to ur door. easy swap and u gain about 3inc of heigth.
the t-5 will last for a while if ur small block is mild we are running a fi 425hp 355 small block and the t-5 was pissed!

your radiator will work still. keep the 300 you have so many options at ur feet its just up to what u want.. auto or stick??

The adapter is a Dana 18/20 but the threads have been cut off the output shaft so a D18 won't work.
You could find a 20 and swap it in. This could be a temp thing but I'll eventually go back to the D300.

Speedway has inexpensive al radiators.

yea what i meant is its just as much $$ to swap in a auto at this point...
the th350 to dana 300 adapter is around 100 used and u can find the bellhousing for the trans u have now for about 200 used..

Since it's a 350 Chev, I will assume you've got a TH-350 automatic behind it?

If so, just find a factory adapter from a 700R4 - NP241C from a fullsize Chevy or GMC pickup. It will bolt up to the 4-bolt flange on the output of the TH-350 transmission, and all but (1) hole will line up perfectly with your D300... The adapter is cast iron, and you can easily ream that hole out and get the final one. Should cost you about $10 for the adapter at just about any wrecking yard you can find.

Then you just need a spudshaft to connect the two: Advance Adapter p/n 52-6302.

I will just throw this out there:

I have an SM465 mated to a NP205 sitting in my garage, along with a '78 Chevy heavy duty radiator and lots of miscellaneous 350 engine parts that need to go.

the new trans thats on it is a manual, but ive just cleaned it up and read the numbers on it and its a 305 so im not sure what im gonna do with it. the guy whos house its at has a fresh built 350 he will sell me for 500 so i might just go that route. i will still need a new Jeep 350 conversion radiator, as well as the adapter for the t case i believe. everything ive read said to KEEP the dana 300 because it is a good t case. and depending on the condition of the tranny that came with the 305 i may use it. ill keep this up to date with what i decide but all suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated

No question, just stating the trans is a NP435.
Never figured out if it was a chevy or ford version.

That np435 trans is a good Ford trans. just get a adapter for your d 300 go behind it, if you have a 80's chev bellhousing that had hydraulic clutch your setup will work on that too. make double sure that you have the right bushing in the end of the crankshaft should have if the trans was bolted to it if you don't it will take your front bearing out of the trans. Front motor mounts and you are good to go, accept for rearend m20 is weak with 2 piece axle won't last. I was told by 2 guys on here that Pasco Auto Wrecking has a Scout ll rearend D44 will fit your Jeep much stronger just need new spring pads welded on jeeps have a narrower frame check the gears should be 3.73s. I have a 83 cj7 with a 350 chev I went a different route with mine.

And his gears are probably 3.55s in an '84. Maybe even 3.07s.

I know of a set of wide trac '5 axles coming up with 4.56's and lockers... Honestly if I was worried about the axles I'd be looking to Yota axles, they are cheap and easy to find plus they are geared at minimum 3.90. :D

True the Scout 2 is wider than a m20 cj axle, but is the same width as the front d30, a plus :)
