my plan is to pick up the engine from pasco auto wrecking tomorrow with ogle. I dont have any experience in the dept of putting a new engine in anything. Nor do i have a cherry picker or any of the neccesary tools. (aside from open ended wrenches) lol i was wondering if there was anyone who would be generous enough to help me do this, anyone with an open shop that wouldnt mind spending a few days helpin me out. i just want to get my jeep back on the road, and trail of course. I am willing to reemburse whoever with cash or general labor, whatever y'all can think of. This would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

we just picked up dylans engine. it got 120-130 on all 6 on the compression test.

Got the engine, it looks good so far. Now about what you were saying Jose, ill check it out but if i cant figure it out is there any way you could stop by and show me what i need to do?

haha that makes me feel better. well everything ive read says its a very simple swap. No one in the club has any idea?

Pulled the 258. pulled the manifold off of it. tomorrow im putting the manifold on the 4l, 2 allignment posts need to be ground a touch to make it fit, but its gonna be fairly easy. then im droppin her in. I do have a few questions tho, will i need a new distributer? the one on the 4l has wires my old one didnt coming off it. i think thats my only question, i may need a little help with the wiring harness and wiring it all back to run. ill keep y'all posted

oh the part that really scares me is the wiring, HOPEFULLY i can use my old harness since the guys at paw didnt keep the new one. all the emissions crap gets pulled out right? i have no idea what to plug where and so on.

Got everything from the 258 swapped over to the 4l, all thats left to do is find a starter for the 4l and buy the electric fuel pump. should be on the road next week

Cope, It has been my personal experience that a cheap low preasure fuel pump will give you grief at the worst time. Some things to consider....

Find the lowest and easiest spot on the rig to mount the fuel pump (a small flat plate welded like a shelf on the inside of the frame works good)

Use a fused relay to provide power to the pump.

Seal your wires to the pump.

Buy a back-up fuel pump of the same make/model.

Find a pumps with a life-time warrantees and keep the receipts in the rig

You also want the pump to be as close to the fuel tank as possible. Pumps generally push better then they pull.

Plug them all off, then when you have an accessory you notice not working, hook it back up.
