Subject: NACHES VOLUNTEER SAW TRAINING SATURDAY MAY 15th and WEDNESDAY MAY 19th PLEASE RSVP!!


Hello!

The Naches District will be holding two volunteer saw training sessions for both chain saw and cross cut/hand saw volunteers -

The dates are:

Saturday, May 15th and Wednesday, May 19th. You only need to attend one day.

We will start in the office to go over safe sawing practices and will then head out to the field with our Forest Service C Certified Sawyers to practice bucking.

Please RSVP to me as class sizes are limited so that you can work one-on-one with our experienced sawyers.

When RSVPing, please tell me your name, phone number, which date you'll attend, if this is your initial certification or if you're going for a recertification, and if you'll be working with a chain saw or cross cut saw.

These sessions are required annually for all volunteers working under an Individual or Sponsored Volunteer Agreement, and strongly recommended for all volunteers working under a Challenge Cost Share Volunteer Agreement.

We Really Appreciate (and definitely need) your help in trails work; and we are committed to keeping you safe!!

Anyone interested in going post up so we can set up carpools or whatever.
*Screaming Toylet has volunteered his blazer for carpool

1. Meet at 8AM the Ranger Station in Naches (10237 US Highway 12).
2. Bring a lunch and drinking water.
3. Dress for outside - rain or shine. Jeans and boots are great. Long sleeved shirts are necessary.
4. Bring the safety equipment you have - we will have extra hard hats, ear plugs, safety glasses, gloves and chaps.
5. We'll start in the office, then carpool out to the field...

V. Practice bucking – We’ll split into two groups - Those who will
be certified for the first time, and those who are being
recertified.
BRING: Your favorite chain saw or cross cut saw (or you can use ours).
Gloves, hard hat, chaps, hearing protection, eye protection (we can supply
items you don’t have). Also, bring your lunch and drinking water.
WEAR: Required: long-sleeved shirt, long pants and leather boots. Dress
for the weather.
