If it's a 3 speed it is likely a t150. Novak has a good guide to identifying what you have.

Trashy....stick to Toys and Chevies.....the T150 wasn't invented for 20 years when that Jeep was built.

You need to remember that there is no year listed for the yeep in question. But I do remember the t150 being used for a long time.. Sheesh.

CRS sets in. . .in gigalot's first post ever, it says that it is a '56 CJ5. From the pictures, you can tell that it is a shortfender '5. (Short Nose, mounting thingy for the side mounted spare on the Passenger side. . .etc.)

I'm just trying to contribute to the walking "TrashyPedia".

As far as the Tranny. . .there is about a 75% chance that it is a T-90. HOWEVER.. .it could be ANYTHING. It is a Jeep afterall. Most of them don't stay stock.

Oh yea pre '64(?) right? The hood was all taper with no straight section at the cowl and the fenders were shorter behind the wheel well...

So '56 should have a dana 25 front and 44 rear with 2 piece rear shafts. Knowing the year the chances of it having a t 90 backed by an 18 are rather good. The F head was still standard but it could also be sporting a 225 dauntless as it came up not long after the '5 was introduced...

If I had a bigger picture to work with we wouldn't be having this little conversation...

Yup that's good that the rig doesn't travel too far from home unless they have AAA.

Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

For example:

My Jeep is a 1980 CJ7. . .right? WEll.. .it has a 1972 Jeep Motor and a 1998 Jeep Transmission. . .1970 Jeep J2000 rearend. . .and on and on and on and ON. . .Heck the clutch master/slave is from a 1999 XJ and the brake master is from a friggin' Corvette, but the computer (yes, computer) is from a Caprice!!!

Heck, this is a fun game: 1985 XJ steering box, Ford HP44 front with the dif on the wrong side, Steering knuckles from a Postal Jeep (I think). 3/4 ton Chevy 4x4 front brakes with 1978 Ford bearing hubs. . .rears are 1/2 Chevy 4x4 front calipers with Dodge 1/2 ton Rotors. The AC pump is from a Wagoneer of some sort and the rear half of the cage is from a YJ. . .
