As of this moment....there is no legal access to the Taneum Manastash area. All routes have been cutoff by slides, washouts, and water. Please note that any arranged work parties are cancelled until the status changes. Please let folks you know and who wheel and ride know this information. I will let you know the moment the situation changes in any way....but if you are planning on a Memorial Day Trip in the Taneum Manastash, please have a real alternative. It might be closed FOR EVERYONE and EVERY ACTIVITY. WOW!!! I can't believe this one!!!

Here is Tim's News Release...you get it first. I wish it was the one that said we were OPEN for riding this Memorial Day Weekend, but things are really, really bad...
ROAD AND TRAIL CLOSURES DUE TO FLOODING
Taneum road #3300 is washed out and closed at Taneum Campground.
Manastash Road #3100 is closed by the County just above Cove Road due to numerous severe washouts.
Peoh Point Road #3350 is closed 2.5 miles up just before the big switchback due to a washout.
THERE IS NO ACCESS TO BUCK MEADOWS, TANEUM JUNCTION, ICEWATER CAMPGROUND OR ANY OF THE TRAILS IN THESE DRAINAGES. IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT THESE WASHOUTS WILL BE FIXED BY MEMORIAL DAY. PLAN ACCORDINGLY!

Okay, this is what I learned today about roads...the Taneum 3300 is barricaded with jersey barriers (impassable and closed until further notice); Peoh Point is closed. Woods and Steele is still holding snow, but with this weather, should melt fast. Manastash...not good at all. We know of several HUGE washouts so far, and we haven't had eyes on anything above those, but we have someone surveying further tomorrow...so I will do another report then...it looks like we should have some trails open in the Liberty area by Memorial Day weekend, if not sooner (thanks to the PNW4WDA).

Some good news out there....We logged out the South Fork Manastash Trail to ALMOST the 5 mile mark and it is in relatively good condition. No washouts or hazards. Ran into deep snow after the last clearcut though. A LOT OF SNOW still on Peaches (we had a good view). The North Fork is cut off for any look as the 5th bridge is gone and the creek is a raging river. Trails won't be open for Memorial Day; roads are still closed (Peoh, Taneum, Manastash).

Liberty trails east of I-90 (town of Liberty side) below the Table Mountain Closure WILL BE OPEN with two exceptions; one is the lower 4WD319 and I think the other is the 334, but I am waiting for an e-mail to confirm. Just wanted you to know so you can plan for the big weekend. THANKS PNW4WDA volunteers!!!!!

Just updated trail information on cleelumtrails.com (go to motorized page, click on TRAIL STATUS, and go to LIBERTY since that area is all we have open...thanks to the PNW4WDA!!! Or you can go right to the map to see what trails are open....Liberty is to the east...trails open are in green. Have a safe Memorial Day Weekend!

We have some trails open to ride this weekend out in the Taneum...bad news, all the major roads remain closed...GOOD NEWS, roads will open Road 3300 next week (between June 13th and 16th)...bad news....that's after this coming weekend....still, we are going the right way! You can see the updated OPEN map posted on CleElumTrails.com (Motorized Page, then click on TRAIL STATUS).

Looks like the Manastash will stay closed for a while...nothing the FS can do as Kittitas County is keeping their road officially closed indefinitely. So, Road 31 and our two popular Campgrounds, are inaccessible. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT TANEUM FSR 3300 IS CLOSED through this coming weekend, but should be open the following weekend. Don't drive that far east just to be disappointed.

So the latest...should I even say....Looks like there is an order in the process to completely shut off a part of Manastash to motorized travel on the roads...the closure also includes the Hoyt Mine Trail AND all of 4WD311. The rest of the trail system is open and will remain outside of the closure, so for the off-roaders, it should not effect you too much...EXCEPT...access is really choked off. They will open one lane on the Taneum 33 to Taneum Jct. NEXT WEEK (after this weekend), but Gnat Flat 3330 is barricaded, as is Tamarack Springs (when it crosses to USFS land). Road 3100 is gated and the county road leading up to it is CLOSED. I will post a map of the closure area as soon as it is finalized.
