That was the article that made me go with the Superwinch. I haven't regretted the decision so far.

And what about the new line from Harbor Freight?

There is a story that only a few of us no. 3 of us did our own little test, it only took 12 hours. I have to say that the ALternators gave out long before the winchs. Jim can tell it like no other, but let it be said here and now NOTHING but a Warn will ever be put on my wheeling rigs.

Imagine being hours from anywhere, not knowing where you are, snow, rain, sun, fog, dark and no driveabilty with steep a$$ hills to trust your winch to. do you trust your winch? that was like 8 years ago and the same winch is still pulling me out.

Guess I'll have to let you know in another 5 years how I feel about my winch then.

Seriously. . .

I currently own a T-Max because they gave me one for doing a magazine article. It is a good winch for quick recoveries, but if you plan on overlanding it at Rimrock, nothing but a Warn will do.

And they never test the old reliable; Warn 8274. If you can afford it and it will fit I think it is the best for a trail rig. (I'm very biased, but I am right.)

They never test the uprights against the laydowns because the laydown manufacturers would be blown out of the water by leaps and bounds.

Agreed. It's too bad that the packaging doesn't work with some vehicles.

If i could make it work on my runner and not look like a tard, it would of been on there along time ago. but they make some very compairable lay downs also

They mount easily enough, you just have to be willing to cut the grill to fit the motor. I did a relatively tasteful trim job once upon a time when I ran a grill and it looked fine. I'll be doing that again when the time comes on the new build.
