So, I have been having some real troubles with my knee lately. Started in late August. Knee pain, swelled up huge and more major pain, had 45cc of green fluid drained from it mid-September, then had an MRI and discovered the meniscus is torn pretty bad. Not even sure how that happened. :?

So the doc recommended I have it 'scoped so they can clean it out and take a good look at it. I postponed scheduling the operation until after our run up to Kaner last weekend (sorry I didnt stop by and see the rest of you, I wasnt feeling very "mobile"), but now on track to go under the knife next Tuesday.

Then last night, the doc called me to tell me they went back over my blood work and found several things that point to other possible problems, possibly RA. So, I get to see a rhumatologist and find out what's going on. NOT something a guy in his mid-30's should be hearing... :(

Man, if it's RA, don't mess around. There are ways to ease it somewhat. I have degenerative osteoarthritis in my back and neck from having broken my neck in a wheeling oops 35 years ago. RA isn't the end of life as you know it if you do the right things. Hope they're wrong!!

Hope all goes well with it. One of the best medicines for RA is just a bit of TetraHydroChloride. :D

Believe it or not, I have never had that stuff in my system.

I'm sure Trashy's solution is more fun, but try Cherry Juice. I know RA is more serious, but it really takes the edge off of my gout.

And in all seriousness, I pray that you and your docs get ahead of this and that in the end it is not RA.

Your not missing anything. Best wishes for a speedy/non-RA recovery/diagnosis.

Well maybe they'll give you Humira (or Adadimulab). It's was an experimental drug that a company I worked came out with back in 2003 but it's become more mainstream now. Works awesome for RA from the trials and its now FDA approved I hear.

There is a heck of a stigma associated with it but it just flat works for pain. I have a neighbor with 3 types of arthritis and MS and it is the only thing that let's him live. He quit the large doses of morphine cold turkey once the doses made him so sick he couldn't take it anymore.

I agree. I have a close friend who had the same results.

Just over 10 years ago, when I was taking my college classes, I had to write an argumentative paper for my English class. The topics were drawn from a hat, and I ended up with having to argue FOR the legalization of marijuana. The research was actually quite enlightening. The only real problem is the people who become addicted and let the stuff run their lives. But that is the same problem with ANY vice.

Those that become "addicted" are those that would become addicted to anything. There is no physical addiction, just a mental one to some. I'm not a conspiracy type guy but I do believe the .gov has done its best to keep the stigma going since the days of "reefer madness" to ensure it is never made legal. Cannabis Sativa really is a universal substance that can be used for about anything. But nooo, its a bad thing that ruins lives...

Paully, sorry to hear that you're going to have to deal with this but it's amazing what they can do with a meniscus cleanout these days. I know a number of guys that have had it done and function normally. Bummer with the RA though but glad they figured it out. Better now than later.

But, if you're like me you'll continue to do what you like and deal with the issues associated with the pain. For me a couple Alive or Tylonol??? work wonders for taking the edge off. If it gets too bad I pop a nice fat pain killer the doc ordered.

Good luck with it and keep us posted.

Stitches came out today and I have been off the pain meds for two days now. Woohoooo! It's really feeling alot better!

Maybe we should take a little run to hover or Juniper Sunday to celebrate? :P

Good to hear. Had a few family members get knee work done - medical technology is getting to be quite amazing.

Paul, glad you are feeling better.

Medical technology is amazing these days. My mom got a new knee a couple years ago and it's doing great. Then, a couple weeks ago, she got a new shoulder.

It's brand new! :super
