Just out of curiosity, what brand and size coolers do you haul around in the back of your rigs when you're out on the trail?

I have like 10 coolers.

My favorite is the 100qt Coleman Extreme.

You see a lot of the Stainless and/or Green Coleman Classic coolers on the trail too. I like those. . .

You're the second person to mention Coleman's Extreme line of coolers. What are the dimensions on your particular cooler?

No clue.

Depends on who's going...

If it's all four of us, we use our big x large x deep Coleman Extreme.

If it's just a couple or when I fly solo, our slightly less big x less large x less deep Coleman Extreme gets the nod.

For the record, before the Minivan(s), I never was able to take the larger cooler in our Jeeps. The rack I built for the spare tire carrier on the YJ wasn't big enough (looked waaaaaaay out of proportion with that much cooler/rack back there), and I just pharmered a rack for the TJ that only held a small personal cooler. The rear bumper/rack I built for the EB was sized just right for the large cooler, though. And of course, the Minivan has more than ample space to swallow the cooler. Moral of the story: make sure you have a way to haul the cooler you want/need. They get heavy with enough ice/drinks to support a family.

x2 on the Coleman Extreme coolers. At my previous job location, the drivers had to keep ice coolers stocked with bottled water at various locations.
By lunch time on a hot summer day, the regular igloo coolers would need more ice brought out. The Coleman Extremes were good to go for the day, and usually still had a lot of ice left the next morning. Needless to say, the ice water crews would always snag up all the Extremes first before stocking an Igloo.

Most "5-Day" type coolers work well. Try to find one with stout handles for stapping it down.
