PEAK PUTTERS

We just got back from Oahu/Waikiki Hawaii today after 10 days. WAY too many people on that little island. If you go, visit one of the other islands.
We were there to visit the oldest daughter and the grandkids in someplace other than Anchorage, so it was all worth it.
We kept pretty busy and saw the whole island. I managed to snap a few pics.

Out of all the stuff we did, the best times were had driving to the other side of the island and hanging out on the beaches with the family/kids.
And those best moments were all free.

B. Yes, got to go through the whole sub. It is amazing that 80 men lived on that thing for months at a time. There were fold down cots everywhere...over torpedoes, in the engine room, etc. Truly opens your eyes on what they must of went through back then.

We try to go to Hawaii every other year, but as you mentioned, we MUCH prefer the other islands, specifically Kauai. Essentially just us, the locals, and a bunch of chickens!

Yes, no drive to Anchorage. Meeting in Hawaii made more sense. Way less travel time=more time w/kids. Hawaii was cheaper too when we considered how much time off work we would of both had to take.

Unluckily for me, the several times I visited Hawaii I was on official business and did not get to go to any other islands.

I was a Flying Crew Chief on the Air Force C-9 Medivac jets out of Japan, and we often went to Oahu to drop/pick up patients from the Med center there.

We always stayed at the Outrigger Reef hotel there in Waikiki, right on the beach.
