All Amputee Baja Race Team Raises Funds For Injured American Soldiers

We are very proud to introduce Julian Hard Cider HERO Racing (Helping Everyone Reach Out). We are a group of experienced Baja off-road motorcycle riders racing the upcoming Baja 1000 as a fundraiser to generate money for prosthetics and modified equipment for spinal cord injuries for returning American soldiers so they can participate in the sports they love. As former veterans and physically challenged athletes, HERO Racing is very passionate about helping these great individuals return home to a country that appreciates everything they have sacrificed. With that said, we have organized a ride-a-thon, similar to a jog-a-thon, where supporters can donate 5 or 10 cents per mile completed for the Baja 1000. We just started and already have signatures totaling $8,000 with a humble first -race goal of $20,000. Furthermore, we are also going to help our friends south of the border as wheelchairs, prosthetics and other necessary items for young, disabled individuals in Mexico are hard to find.

One of our teammates and riders is Chris Ridgeway. He had his lower left leg amputated and is a multiple X-Games Super X Adaptive Gold Medal winner! Chris and a few other X Game Super X Adaptive medal-winning motocross riders will be riding one of the Julian Hard Cider HERO Racing dirt bikes in the November 2012 Baja 1000 to help raise money for this great cause. Even our mechanics, support team and pit crews are comprised of disabled veterans and challenged athletes who will be receiving the experience of a lifetime.

Julian Hard Cider is a small, growing business in Julian, CA, and all of our wonderful employees, staff and friends are volunteering their time and resources to make this happen. Our good friend, Hall of Fame motocross racer and paralyzed Iron Man Triathlon multiple winner David Bailey is working side-by-side with us in addition to The Challenged Athletes Foundation's Operation Rebound. It is the premier sports and fitness program for American military personnel, veterans and first responders with permanent physical disabilities. Operation Rebound provides unparalleled opportunities to pursue active, athletic lifestyles by offering access to funding for equipment, training, competition expenses, Military Medical Center Physical Training (MMCPT) and sports clinics.


‬The Challenged Athletes Foundation is a 100% honorable and internationally recognized non-profit organization processing the HERO Racing donations. They make sure all proceeds go directly to the individuals' needs and not into somebody's pocketbook. If you would like to get involved and help us in any way, it would be greatly appreciated (donate 5 or 10 cents per mile completed, company donation, sponsor, hold a fundraiser, volunteer or anything else you think would help). If not, no problem. Just cheer us onward this coming November 2012.

There are videos out there of these guys riding. They are BAD to the bone.

I bet that they finish really high up in the order AND that there is a little "Dust to Glory" effect because of the attention that they are getting.
