I picked up some JK Rubicon take offs for my Grand. Don't want to keep them silver though.

quote for powder coating was minimum $56 a wheel. After five wheels that doubles what I paid for all five rims.

does anybody have any suggestions?

I talked to a guy who used strut paint and they looked pretty good, supposedly durable but he recently painted them so he didn't know. He said it cost him around $50 total for all the paint.

Then there is this, pretty interesting. Anybody ever use this?
Lots of stuff on youtube, just sprays on and peels off the tire, no dismount is needed.

If it were me, I'd blast them and then add some halfway decent primer and paint from a spray can.

HF powder coater.
Need an extra stove but gun and paint is the same price as one done prof.

will that powder coat not take if its not cooked?

I personally hate powder coat. It's way too hard to repair if the smallest amount of rust starts under a chip. Powder coat might stay in good shape slightly longer than normal paint, but when it fails....

I'd stick with standard paint, way easier to maintain and keep looking nice, especially on something like a wheel.

yah, i like the duplicolor option.

I'm not sure this would work but if the paint ever chips I think it could be rubbed with some paint thinner and smoothed out then re sprayed.
