Czek Your Batteries and Tires!!

Postby tobyw » Fri Jul 26, 2013 5:14 am

Just a quick tip that should be part of your normal maintenance routine... If you have a typical lead/acid battery, it requires water. Summer heat and water don't mix well, and your battery can and will actually boil itself to death. Carefully pop the caps and verify you have water up to the bottom of the fill passages in each and every bank. For the record, I just picked up a brand new battery yesterday for the motorhome, and it was nearly 3 cups low right off the shelf

Same deal with your tires. As wheelers, we typically fiddle with our tire pressure more than your average bear. But, especially for hot summer temps and road trips, you want your tires at the highest pressure that makes sense. This is especially true of your tow rig and trailer
Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...

Great advice Toby.
I don't Text (at least not very well), I eat Blackberrys, and I only Twitter after sex...

And this is on the list. . .

If I remember correctly, one of my cell covers popped off on the con so my big battery in the XJ might not be so big right now!!!

Use distilled water to top off your battery.
