Short Course BS. . .move confo from chat box

COORP has a short course series that runs in Redmond, OR, 4 times per year. There is some chatter about possibly running one or more racers from our group in the series next year. There is also a race on Sept. 20 of THIS year to round out the series. It may be possible to race our current truck at this race to get a feel for the environment and make plans for the next part of the series.
Issues:
Current Race Truck is a Desert truck. . .not a short courser. Main issues are:
1. Power to Weight
2. Center of Gravity
3. Bite (a function of COG in this case), Axle wrap and traction
4. Overall weight (Chivo is a fat goat at 4600lbs)
5. Weight distribution (lawn dart effect)
6. Handling balance/Rotation (probably could be cured with sway bars and rear ballast.
Still. . .it would be fun!
Cost to "cure" these issues would be more than the cost to build a different platform from scratch.
From the look of the track. . .video and stills at this point. . .a light weight, well balanced 4x4 with limited slip diffs and 10 to 12" of WELL CONTROLLED travel along with f/r swaybars and neutral weight distribution would OWN the day. Current trucks doing well are a v8, linked ranger and a supercharged Toyota. . .both Desert trucks that look like sprinting Walruses. . .
On the full size side. . .the V8 race Jeeps are beating everyone. . .including a Pro2 and a Protruck. I know their secret. . .and I'm not tellin'. . .
