Flat Towing Your Jeep - Tips and Tricks?

Postby Rottwheeler » Thu Apr 10, 2014 9:45 am

I've got a Class C motor home with a 5000lb tow limit... so putting my 4500lb LJ on my ~2000lb car trailer exceeds my current tow limits.

I could flat tow my LJ but my bumper is WAY above the level of my RV hitch. Even when using an inverted drop hitch (~10in), my tow bar is still below the recommended "level" position. So... I'm contemplating the addition of some sort of removable tow bar attachment point below my bumper... and am curious if any of you have conquered this little quandry?

And... if you flat tow your rig... what braking system do you use in it?

Thanks for any suggestions you care to provide. :-)

Worked perfectly all the way to Moab and back behind the WK2.

No brakes. Danny is the king of flat toad brakes around here. I looked at all kinds of systems but didn't pull the trigger. . .I considered training a chimp to push the pedal at the right time.
