ground bees?

I must have a pretty good size underground hive. They were coming out the side of the ground where I am still working on my retaining wall. I also noticed that a critter was trying to dig into it, and made the entry hole bigger. Probably the skunk that sprayed Brutus the other night. Unfortunately, Brutus must have scared the skunk away before it got to the hive.
So I waited until late night and filled the hole on the side of the hill with 2 cans of good ole jet spray bee killer. Then shoveled a bunch of dirt over the hole.
Yesterday morning all clear...no sign of them.
This morning, holy crap! They dug out straight up and are swarming from a new hole right in front of where my car trailer is stored, and I need my trailer this weekend.

I've read few different methods of dealing with them on the webz. Some I don't think I want to try.
Anyone have any tried and true tips? Tonight when I get off work it's round 2!

I assume these are yellow jackets?

My brother and I used to dig up the hives and kill them with old golf clubs. Not sure if I'm fast enough for that anymore.

Fire should do the trick. Some lighter fluid and a match has worked in the past. If the hive is really big, a hose will drown the nest and pesticide will take care of whats left.

I've been told to use a bee killing powder around the entry hole. as they track it into the hive it kills 'em dead!

I think they are yellowjackets. ? They are smaller than the paper wasps that like to build nests on everything.

I agree with the hot very soapy water for spraying nest that you can see. I load up a weed sprayer with the stuff. Underground nests are pain. We seem to get one or two big underground nests every year, and we struggle to get rid of them. The bugs usually have two entrances. Chemicals probably work better than fire for underground nest. Attack early in the morning (coldest part of the day).

Last big yellow jacket nest I got rid of took a small bottle of dawn, a garden hose and a weed burner. I dumped the dawn down the hole, shoved the hose in on full for a few minutes then heated the ground for a good while so they were all trying to abandon the hive they were forced through the dawn water. There was a yellow and black circle about in about a 5' circle when all was said and done.

So far at 11am, no yellowjackets. But that has happened before.

I had one in my retaining wall. Hung a couple of those plastic yellow jacket traps about 8-10 feet away. Within a few days the traps were full and no more bugs going in and out of the nest.

I ended up dumping a cup of unleaded gas down the new hole, covering it with dirt, and running like a scared little girl. I heard lighting it burns up all the killin vapors that travel down into the hive. So, I didn't light it.

No yellowjackets this 3rd morning. I rescued the car trailer out of the backyard with the old pickup rumbling right over the nest area. Nothing.

I also have a large arsenal ready for the next invasion. Dish soap, screen door fabric, lighter fluid, wasp spray, etc.
