anyone running or heard anything about them?

have decided my current tires' sidewalls are way to hard and experience cracking and chunking in the rocks. they'll make good trailer tires though.

Amazingly expensive and bulletproof sidewalls...

but of course that depends on what size wheel you have and how many were produced for the government.

In the hmmwv surplus market I'd go for the MTRs over the BFGs. BFGs would be my second choice. The BFGs are available in a load range D or E, I'd try to get the D.

I've got wranglers now but the sidewalls are so hard if I hit a rock it cracks or chunks. supposedly the bfg's are much softer, I can air down enough to overcome the stiff sidewall. this is what I'm looking at this time.

Don't you have the retreads on the old wrangler MT carcass?

The newest Humvee tires are MTRs, totally different tire.

yep retreaded wrangler mts, I thought the latest is the BFG bajas.

so if an "E" range tire is set to 80 psi at max load and I were to run it at say 20 psi am I already aired down and my sidewalls already flexed?

No, you just have a heavier side wall and it may never actually bag. At least not like a c or d rated tire. I run the E rated tires on my tow pig at 50 psi unless I'm towing. 80 psi is too much unless it's a heavy rig and will cause abnormal wear on the tire.

I agree the BFGs are a better choice for your rig, you're too light to be running E rated tires, and the Sidewall differences is huge for what we do. I think if you were just an Overlander fire roads kinda guy they'd be ok. But the stuff we play in demands flexibility, and the MTRs don't seem to be very flexible. I think the tread pattern will be more favorable too.

Just my .02...

If they are a true Baja carcass, they may have 4 ply sidewalls similar to a Krawler. They are super tough and should work better than an E tire when aired down but they will not be as good in the snow as off the shelf MTs because they are stiffer.
