This is a email that we received from SMUD and wanted to pass along. Please help spread the word.
Hello Rubicon & Jeeper Enthusiasts!
SMUD has scheduled summer work projects in the Eldorado National Forest that will be impacting areas near The Rubicon Trail, Loon Lake Helipad (next to the Chalet), Pleasant Valley Trail and the Rubicon Desolation Wilderness. The “Buck Island Projectâ€

Thank you for the info....... great timing.

We were just laying out each day of our trip and it is exactly during this work.

Having to rethink our camping strategy now. But way better then showing up for a surprise!!

Its funny, I had just sent Drew the proposed dates a couple hours before you posted this. After carefully laying out the dates I think we will be OK either way. I have been there when they were working on the dam at Buck Island before. Not a big deal as long as you are OK with the helicopter coming in/out several times. Probably will screw with the fishing at the dam though. That's OK, I like the fishing at the back of the lake better anyway.
