Sand or media blasting

Tried searching the site and found nothing. inter web shows a few but always like first hand knowledge of businesses. Anyone know who does small stuff like my front bumper?

I've got one you can borrow. It makes a huge mess but works good.

can i use it at your place then? what are the air requirements? where can media be had?

You can buy media at granger. I've also found it at harbor frieght. I'm not sure what the requirements to run it are. I would say run it till you run out of air pressure then let it catch up. If you want to use it at my place we can stretch the air hose out the south end of the shop.

I use sand from the sand dunes around town. Run it through a window screen and put it in my harbor freight blaster. Works good on lighter blasting. If heavy rust I try to find a courser grain material.

Sand use without a good respirator can cause silicosis, so beware.

I wear a good respirator and a hood with full face shield when I sand blast... along with heavy gloves and protective clothing.

i ended up wire wheeling and flap discing the old stuff off. may be able to finish it this weekend.

Western Materials also has blasting material. I just confirmed at the home show. They have different grit ratings depending on how aggressive you want.

thanks, will keep that in mind for next time. i ended up wire wheeling and flap discing with satisfactory results.
