Postby Rottwheeler » Tue Apr 07, 2015 5:47 am

Has anyone taken a look at Edelbrock's performance head for the 4.0L?

That's been out for quite a while, hasnt it?

If I remember right, reviews were not exciting enough to justify the price tag.

Personally, I think the stock ports are too large for our application and leave a lot of torque potential on the table (that our Jeeps NEED). In the effort to keep this head 50-state legal, they didnt improve the port profile much from stock. I believe it IS an improvement, though, and has way more potential than the stock cast iron head. Especially on a large displacement stroker.

Over the last 15 years, production ports have reduced in size quite a bit and the profiles have changed on the really high-end stuff. Those that kept their port sizes close to the same increased their redline by many thousand RPM (requiring more flow), and in some cases, reduced the valve sizes.
