Post from Mikki Re: chain saws

Okay....So....we remain under a FULL CHAINSAW shutdown. We haven't been able to use a chainsaw for weeks. This is the driest summer I can remember. We know there are trees down EVERYWHERE and we are trying to get the small ones out of your way, but we have our hands tied as far as anything big. Our volunteers and crew had most of the Taneum/Manastash and Table logged out prior to the shutdown, but we are getting a lot of new fall down because the soil is so dry. We will be out tomorrow with Crosscuts, but....that's slow work and MAYBE we can get 2-3 out of your way a weekend (we have to walk with those saws....). Our maintenance crew is busy on the north end working on reroutes. So....KNOW YOU WILL BE BACK TO OLD SCHOOL WOODS RIDING....that is.....ramping or riding over blowdown. I'm really sorry....my crew doesn't take their saw racks off until mid-September (typically)....and we are fortunate to have several dedicated volunteers that ALWAYS ride with saws....but, right now NO ONE can cut out in the woods. Ride with your handsaws and at least limb the big trees so folks can wheelie over them....and our volunteers and crews will get them when we are allowed. Looks like we will have another "logout" season once this drought subsides......
