Fire danger increases on the National Forest

Naches, WA— Continued hot, dry weather has resulted in an increase in fire danger to ‘Extreme’ on the Naches Ranger District. The Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) on the Naches Ranger District has also increased.

Effective Saturday August 21, 2015 IFPL Zone 675 and 680 will be changing to an IFPL 4 which prohibits use of any kind of internal combustion engine or electric engines. The IFPL 4 is defined as a total shut down for all industrial equipment including chainsaws, portable generators or any kind of power devices which can emit sparks on forest land.

Vehicle travel on forest roads and trails will remain open at this time. Campfires are still prohibited on the Naches Ranger District, including in developed campgrounds and wilderness areas. For detailed information on industrial fire precaution levels visit fortress.wa.gov/dnr/ifpl/IFPL.aspx. Please contact the Naches Ranger Station for more information on current conditions and fire restrictions on the national forest.

 If a fire is burning or there is smoke present, call 9-1-1 or 1-800-826-3383 (Central Washington Interagency Coordination Center)
 Report the exact location of the fire and, if known, what is burning.
