Exhaust

So last weekend at Rim Rock I managed to smash my tailpipe down to about an inch and bent it so bad it won't sit on the hangers.
I could just cut out that section of tailpipe as the muffler is fine but I like excuses to upgrade. The muffler came with the Jeep when I bought it new in 2004.
Just wondering what people have put on their Jeeps from the cat to the tailpipe and if you like it or not. The last time I put on an exhaust system on my '92 wrangler's system rusted out and fell off in Illinois. It would be nice for my Jeep not to "sound like a vacuum cleaner" as Wrench put it.

I put on a Dynomax cat back on mine. Not as throaty as some of the others. More like a low sound I can hear when wheeling but quiet enough I can't tell the difference from stock on the hiway.
It was more than a few years ago, was on sale with a $75 rebate. So about $60 bucks when it was all said and done.
All bolt on to the main cat. Bad thing is, I had to cut off the purdy end, and dump it after the skid, when I ended up needing to run my rear track bar upside down. That's due to the tall track bar mount Larry welded on my swapped axle.

When I smashed my tail-pipe I saw-zalled it; twice. Tee hee. Then Brian made me a killer deal on a Flowmaster, and my 3rd cat may or may not have come off. Now my LJ no longer sounds like a Prius, but my results weren't the same as Dave's; I hear mine all the time. Sounds nice on the trail, but a little loud on the road. Puts grin on my face.

Mine is a Flowmaster 40 series, no cat. You dont want one of these, especially with a soft-top. Very annoying on the freeway. Makes me wish mine sounded like a vacuum cleaner on the freeway.

Mine is a 40 series with all 3 cats in place. I don't mind it but if I put a hole in it I will get something quieter. I'm too old for the drone.

Texted Lud about this route earlier today. When I replaced my exhaust "system" I saw they wanted hundreds for what was only a muffler and tail pipe section. And it wasn't even upsized tube!
Bought a tail pipe and splurged on a higher quality muffler and POW! complete exhaust SYSTEM for just over $100!

This guy is $58.79! BTW, this direct fit muffler and the tail pipe above are Dymomax parts.

Seen some good reviews on the Dynomax stuff. Thanks for all the help. It looks like I'll go that route.

I've got a Dynomax muffler you can have. I think it is 2.25" in/out. All the rest of the pieces you can find at Orielly's or RockAuto.
