Ahtanum Forest Meeting and possible new road

Postby commando14 » Fri Jan 29, 2016 8:45 pm

This info was posted by Phantom over on Off-Camber:

There will be an Ahtanum Forest User Group meeting on Feb 9th at 6:30 at the West Valley Fire Dept on Zier Rd, hosted by DNR.

I don't think it's been announced yet, but I wasn't told not to tell so here goes......DNR was awarded a grant to install an new ORV trail this year connecting North Fork and Jackass Rd. I've been told that the meeting is mainly to talk about that. The plan is to put it in a little bit south of where the old one was. It's only about 1.5 miles long and will be a groomed in the winter so don't expect anything difficult. At least there's finally something new going in though as opposed to everything else getting shut down.

I'll be there and hope to see some of you locals there as well. I'd like our group to give input on it as well instead of just the same ol' OJF's.

I just found the official statement.

I’m writing to invite you to a Department of Natural Resources user group meeting for the Yakima area. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at the West Valley Fire Station (10000 Zier Road Yakima, WA 98908).

The goals for this gathering are: to meet the users of the Ahtanum State Forest, the Wenas and the Rattlesnake, to talk about the recent accomplishments and improvements in those areas and to discuss how best to move forward in the multi-use environment.

Please share this invitation with those you know who may be interested. The meeting is open to the public and will be advertised in the Yakima Herald next month.

We look forward to seeing everyone on February 9th.

Thank you,
