Which way is easier? I intend to do this during this weekend.

I left mine in. Had it jacked way up in the rear.
Be very careful removing and replacing the stupid oil pump thingy. I broke the pick up tube collar off of mine, then had to wait over a week for a new one to show up.

Pull it, 6 bolts and some shifter linkage then you can do the job on the bench and NOT on your back! :thu:

if it can wait a couple weeks you can put it on the lift and never have to lay on you back. and that is to pull it or hack it in place.

That might not be a bad idea. I could move up replacing my passenger side fender first.

I pulled mine. Pulling it makes it easier to separate the case.

PERFECT reason to pull the case! The snap ring on the front of the front output shaft is VITAL!

Sounds good. I can get there early and get this done. What time are you thinking on Sunday? I might need some help on this and set of snap ring pliers. I'll also probably ask advice and help on setting my adjustable arms to get the new pinion angle right.

Also I don't have the drive shaft because I was waiting to get the right measurements for the length after this mod and the new skid installed. I may have to trailer this thing over or drive home in 4 wheel drive.

Hopefully after this I can get a drive shaft ordered and delivered fast enough so I can test it out on Memorial Day weekend. Lol

i can be ready to go by 0730. can it be driven over and driven back? or driven over and left until you get your shaft? i'll check for snap ring pliers. i'll help as much as i can. anyone else that wants to come help is welcome. i'm no expert on pinion angle but maybe someone else could chime in or advise on that. adjusting the the arms should be easy. was this hack and tap or full shaft replacement?

I have snap ring pliers you are welcome to use. If you're planning on a CV rear driveshaft just aim the rear pinion at the t-case pinion.

I can get there by 8am. When I get everything done and refill the tcase I could probably put it in 4 hi and drive home at a slower speed. I'll have to rush order a drive shaft after I set the pinion angle and measure from the output shaft yoke to the yoke on the rear diff.
