Portable 12volt Compressor
Any suggestions for a decent 12volt compressor for the wheeler? I think I'm done smoking my ARB pumps blowing up tires.

Re: Portable 12volt Compressor
does it have to be 12v? do you have room under the hood to fit an A/C compressor?

Re: Portable 12volt Compressor
The MV50 series work pretty good, I believe Lee has a version of it. They go for around $60.
Mine is the MV90 that pumps almost twice the volume of the MV50. I think I paid around $175 for it. In hindsight, I would rather have two of the MV-50's working at the same time than one MV90.

AC pump...
Re: Portable 12volt Compressor
I use the MV50 because the reviews were good and the APS was going out of business so it was on sale at a good price. Actually liked the HF pump better but only lasted a couple years before the piston broke.
MV50 works well, could be a little faster. I also rarely run the tires over 20 so usually don't need a whole bunch of air.
That being said, I will be converting the A/C compressor to a pump. Volume and ease of hooking up (just plug in instead of hooking up clamps) are the main reasons.

Engine driven for the win!
Steve, you'd be into a full engine driven pump for less than a fancy ARB pump, that wouldn't last as long as a converted pump...

The Puma works great if you have the space for it

Re: Portable 12volt Compressor
With help from Scumby and spare parts, my old ARB is back in operation. It turns out that the thermister failed. I did buy a MV50 pump for tire duty.
