I haven't had any problems with my axles yet, but this summer i am hoping to at least re-gear and possibly going bigger. so while i am doing that what do you think of this?

If you are going to regear, go D44 or 8.8

I would probably go with an explorer rear with discs if you can find one.

8.8 w/discs would be your best call..

Cool thing there is that if you can find one with factory 4.10s and then find an XJ with factory 4.10s for the front. . .. . .done.

A disc brake 8.8 will be slightly cheaper than a XJ D44 but won't bolt directly in, will need spring perches welded on, will need custom drive flange adapter, possibly new brake line and e-brake cables, and you might have brake proportioning issuse from the discs (some do-some don't)

With all that said a XJ D44 starts looking better all the time.
