Current plan is to leave town on Thursday the 28th and camp near the starting point and actually start on Friday morning. We have been making most of the plans on a private Face Book page. If anyone else is wanting to tag along speak up. It's looking like it will be a pretty great run. There is talk of snow and washouts on some of the sections so it should prove to be pretty memerable.

Did this run happen? I've been wanting to do parts of this run on 2 wheels, but haven't figured out the logistics of getting dropped off and picked up yet.

Yes it did. And it was EPIC!! If you have a chance to do it I highly recommend it.

Curious for those that have done this, how would a stock truck with bed camper do? I know there isn't any serious offroading but just curious if it would be enjoyable still.
Looking into a tow rig for the Jeep and want to be able to do trips like this without the Jeep

It would do the majority of it. But there are lots of sections I wouldn't want to take a full size truck with a camper thru. Maybe with just a canopy but it would be tight.

good to know thanks! also looking at one ton vans with 4x4 conversions but hard to find for decent prices, those are big but not as big as a truck camper.

How long did you guys take? Maybe we will do all or part this next year in the Bronco. We would probably do a mix of tent camping and hotels. From what I have read there are several areas to get off the route to resupply.

We left town on Thursday afternoon (june 28th) and camped near the trail head. We finished on tuesday july 3rd. We drove home tuesday and got home late tuesday night. If I do it again I would ad 2 or 3 days so I could spend more time sight seeing and relax in camp a little more. As much as I enjoyed doing it in my bronco I would not do it in an open top rig again. I'm still finding dust from that trip.
