Not to dissuade you, just for a little info. If your talking a true early 60's Scout 80 or 800 you do know they didn't come with the largest running gear, right? If you talking the 70's ScoutII's your looking a little better, but they're on the wide side for trails (sorry Dave)

Yeah, if its an 80/800, plan on changing pretty much the entire drivetrain to reliably run 35s.

Now after saying that, didn't the make 800's with the big V-8's and real axles?

Later years of the 800 were available with a 266 or 304 v8. AMC 232 I-6 was an option too. They had a 44 rear with 2 piece 
axle shafts. Dana 30 front is the best the 800 came with.
