who in town does siping on tires?

Schwab...I'd try Big O, too. Good guys over there.

I had it done and wouldn't have it done again. It works great on snow and ice but the rocks chew it up terribly. I only had the inner treads siped but still the rocky trails chewed it up bad. Come take a look.

you wouldn't do it again even if it were for an on-road set of tires strictly used in the winter for snow?

i have to remove my studs on my winter Toyota tires for use in germany.

not after i tore up a set of tires getting to the snow.
i dont feel its worth the extra money,and i have never seen someone beable to go or do somthing because they had siped tires and i didnt

On the flip side, I always sipe my off-road tires. I am on my second set of sipped swampers with no problems. Before that, I had sipped BFGs and WildCountry MT without ill effect. There are sites on the web that give good reasons for sipping. Oddly, siping has been shown to increase tread life on truck tires.

I suspect that the difference in rubber compounds between tire brands may very the success/life of siped MT tires. Based on Curtis' experience, I don't think that I would sipe the newer BFGs.

I agree... I had my old style (pre-KM) BFG Mud-Terrains siped and they held up much better than Curtis's. And they siped them real deep. I always felt the siping helped with traction in all conditions, I could always notice the sipes leaving tracks in the snow and dirt.

I'll probably get my Mickey Thompson's siped, I called Commercial awhile back and it was $16 for per used tires, or $13 per new tire.

I hand siped my swamper LTB, and left 1/2" on lead and trailing edge of each lug, and have little or no chunking, most of the chunking is on outer lugs that are not siped. I have abused them
