Starting and Winching Battery Advice Needed.
Sadly I killed my second Yellow Top battery by letting it set too long without a maintenance charge. So now I’m looking for advice for a starting and winching battery for the Toyota. I’m looking for light weight and quality. I know those qualities are expensive, but that is ok with me.

What Group size are you using? I'm assuming group 31
Re: Starting and Winching Battery Advice Needed.
The last battery was an Optima 34/78. I’ll try to stick with the 34 series.

Sorry, had deep cycles on the brain...
Yup, 34
So I've been buying Deka built, Super Start Platinum branded AGM's from O'Reilly and haven't had any trouble (so far)
I have a group 34R in the Scrambler, I have a group 34M marine battery in my motorhome to replace the side post group 78 and I have a group 65 in the Expedition.
I know, none of these are wheelers. My white Jeep still has the original Yellow Top I put in 16 years ago, I'm surprised every time I start it up after sitting for a winter.

I've been using the same for the last few Jeep builds, and they have been flawless for me as well. Had to put one in the JLU-R last fall when the OEM battery died after a scant 2 years of service Thanks to my incredible lack of wheeling skill, it's seen plenty of winch use to try and get me to that front-row spot at the mall.
Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...

After my original red top died following over 10 years of abuse I went Odyssey. Its heavy, but thats only because its full of lead. The capacity numbers and high plate count are worth the price of admission.

That is DEFINITELY the best battery out there!
Ticket price is too rich for my blood...
