Trailer Brake Controllers

Need some advice and help on purchasing/installing a brake controller. I'd like to get one before Memorial Day weekend, especially if I get a truck camper for my F250.

First off what's the best type? There's inertia and proportional types.

I had my eye on the Prodigy Proportional Brake Controller for sale over at Russ Dean RV going for about a hundered bucks.

Also I've been hunting around under the dash and found 4 cut wires. Maybe this truck has had a controller before?

There's a blue one, red one, white one, and a black one. I'm guessing these are the ones I need to splice into.

I have installed and seen that controller in a couple rigs. It seems to work pretty good. The wires under the dash are factory wires to hook up a brake controller. It's a pretty simple to install. Should come with directions when you buy a controller. Let me know if you need a hand. Or you can come look at how mine was done. They are pretty similar trucks.

I'm gonna go get that controller tomorrow when I get paid.

I'm still thinking about that Northland camper at Russ Dean.

I just happened to spot a '91 Northland 8.5ft Camper down the street from me for 500 bucks as well. Gonna go down there and ask about it.
